HubSpot has made a name for itself as a powerful all-in-one solution for sales, marketing, customer service, and beyond.

Shopify, on the other hand, is widely considered the go-to solution for e-commerce.

But does HubSpot integrate with Shopify? It sure does, and the results are just as amazing as you suspect. We’ll explore the benefits of syncing your accounts and walk you through how to do it in a few easy steps.

Benefits of Shopify and HubSpot Integration

Whether you want to use the HubSpot sales set up to increase your Shopify sales or bridge the gap between your e-commerce and marketing efforts, integration is the way to go. Shopify integration with HubSpot offers the following benefits:

  • Automatically share historical data such as contacts, products, and orders between your HubSpot and Shopify.
  • New data syncs across both accounts in real time.
  • Use HubSpot to track Shopify orders at every level of your sales pipeline.
  • Use pre-created field mappings to track important e-Commerce sales metrics.
  • Access carts and order landing pages from your Shopify app with Feature Discovery Cards.
  • Use HubSpot’s automated workflows to create triggered marketing campaigns such as automated emails.

One of the other perks of HubSpot Shopify integration is that you can connect your accounts regardless of your subscription level on either platform. For example, you can connect a free HubSpot account to a Basic, Standard, or Advanced Shopify account to get a feel for whether it’s the right solution for you.

Step-by-Step Guide to HubSpot Shopify Integration

As long as you have the right info, performing a successful Shopify HubSpot integration is a pretty straightforward process. Here’s a step-by-step guide to the process.

Planning the Integration

Before you get started with your Shopify integration, HubSpot advises being aware of a couple things. The first is that in order to pull off a Shopify and HubSpot integration, you’ll need to either be a super admin of your HubSpot account or have App Marketplace permissions.

The next is that if you’re interested in creating custom field mappings of any sort, you’ll need at least an Operations Hub Starter HubSpot account. Otherwise, you can pull off your integration with any type of HubSpot account.

Installing a HubSpot Tracking Code to Shopify

Now it’s time to add a HubSpot tracking code to your Shopify site. This code is unique to your HubSpot account and is what will allow you to track visitors. While the process may look a little tricky, we’ve got you covered with easy step-by-step instructions:

  • Log into your HubSpot account and choose the Settings icon from the top menu.
  • Depending on your account type, choose the following settings on the left-hand menu: Tracking Code or Tracking & Analytics > Tracking code.
  • Chose Copy to copy your code if you plan to install it yourself
  • Choose Email to my Web Developer if you have a developer who is helping with your HubSpot onboarding.

Now it’s time to install the code on your Shopify site. Start by logging into your Shopify account and pulling up your admin dashboard.

  • From the left-hand menu, select Online Store > Themes.
  • Select Edit code from the Actions dropdown menu.
  • Select the theme.liquid file.
  • Navigate to the section right before the </body> tag and paste your HubSpot code.
  • Click Save and you’re all done!

Choosing the Right Integration Tools

Now that you’ve laid the groundwork for your HubSpot integration with Shopify, it’s time to pay a visit to the HubSpot Marketplace. When you type “Shopify” into the search box, you’ll notice that several different options pop up.

Depending on your goals, some of the others may be worth looking into. It’s also worth noting that you can set up a HubSpot integration with Shopify’s version of the app, which is available in the Shopify App Store.

But the instructions that follow will walk you through how to set up HubSpot’s official Shopify app.

Setting Up and Configuring

Once you’ve located the Shopify app in the HubSpot Marketplace, click Install to begin the process. You’ll then be asked to enter the URL of your Shopify store.

Once you’ve done so, select Install App again. You may be asked to log into your Shopify account if you aren’t already, but that’s all it takes to get the Shopify app installed and connected.

Now all that’s left to do is configure your sync settings. From your HubSpot account dashboard, navigate to Reporting & Data > Integrations > Shopify.

Select the option labeled Set up your sync and a list of sync-able options will appear. You’ll be able to choose to sync things like contacts and customers, products, orders, and more.

There’s also the option to customize your sync settings. Once you’re done, give the system about ten minutes to catch up and your accounts should automatically stay in sync from that point on.

Testing and Troubleshooting

Things not going as planned? Rest assured that there are several options if you end up having issues and aren’t sure where you went wrong.

HubSpot’s Help Center is pretty thorough and may be able to help you pinpoint the issue. At the bottom of the Help Center page, you’ll also find options for reaching out to HubSpot support. You might also try visiting the HubSpot Community and asking if anyone has encountered similar issues.

If your troubles extend beyond Shopify alone, then you might even consider reaching out to a HubSpot professional agency that offers HubSpot integration services. This can also be a solid option if you’re interested in a full-on HubSpot migration from another CRM.

Conclusion

We hope this has helped answer some of your questions about how to set up your own HubSpot Shopify integration. If you already enjoy both platforms separately, you’ll love the magic that happens when their powers combine.
